Marcia & Fernando’s Effortless Coastal Couples Session

There’s a certain calm that only exists by the ocean. You’ll notice that waves soften the noise in your mind, the air feels cooler, and everything just slows down around you. That quietness is exactly what set the tone for this coastal couples session. Marcia & Fernando went into this evening with an open mind, not having previously taken professional photos before. They knew that the California coast was the perfect spot for who they were as a couple – soft and laid-back, but also playful and carefree.

Starting Along the Shoreline

Nerves always tend to be high when you first meet, especially when it’s your first time taking professional couples photos together, and that is completely natural. But almost immediately all 3 of us fell into a comfortable routine. What started as trying to go a little more editorial, quickly turned into more relaxed direction with lots of love and laughter. And that is not something you can fake. If there was a moment during their intimate photos where I asked Marcia & Fernando to kiss and bring the romance, they quickly made it goofy which was an absolute perfect way to pivot into being themselves. They made it all about their dynamic as a couple. I easily adjusted to their chemistry and witnessed absolute magic behind the camera.

To start, we began the evening down along the coastline close to the water before the sun got too low. This was the perfect chance for Marcia & Fernando to embrace any and all opportunities to run around and be completely free.

Navigating to the Cliffs

After some light-hearted beachfront couples photos, we climbed up the cliffside to a great overview of the whole coast. The sun was beginning it’s descent and the weather was clear and beautiful. There wasn’t much room to run around and be carefree in this spot which meant it was a good time to get close, cozy in, and savor the setting sun.

Marcia & Fernando easily adjusted and brought their sweet, romantic chemistry to the forefront. With each step along the edge, their connection was front and center. There was no need to rush during the rest of this coastal couples session. Every laugh, every subtle glance, every moment of leaning into one another became a memory framed by the fading sun and endless horizon. The intimacy of the cliffside with the day’s final light amplified simple movements and made them into lasting memories. Marcia & Fernando ended this session strong with the sweetest of moments.
