Dani & Chad’s Epic Outdoor Engagement Photoshoot

There’s nothing like starting the next chapter of you and your partner’s story like going on an epic adventure engagement photoshoot. And think of it this way – you could go all out with long hikes and vast overlooks, or you could make it a little more laid-back and still get your epic views. That’s what Dani & Chad set out to do in celebration of this chapter. They loved to hike, but wanted to keep things easygoing for a multi-day engagement session. The goal was to fill the experience with adventure, but not put in too many miles of cardio 😉

Day 1 (Pt 1): Snuggled Up With the Ford

We started off their adventure engagement photos by finding a quiet spot among Utah’s landscape. We parked their red Ford truck in an open area and made this moment a little more intimate. For their first outfits, Dani went with a cute mini white dress to lean into her bridal era. Chad stuck with a white tee under his neutral long sleeve button-up. The bold pop of red on the truck against their neutral outfits and landscape added the perfect contrast to the photos.

With the truck being a big part of their story, they were able to snuggle in close and let the nerves of the session settle. The familiar space gave them something grounding to lean into. This easy start was about creating a moment that felt true to them before heading into the wild scenery later on.

Day 1 (Pt 2): Wandering Kolob’s Rugged Landscape

Later in the day, we drove up to a quieter side of Zion National Park, Kolob Canyon, to enjoy sunset. Not too many people head to this area of Zion as it’s not part of the scenic route, but that’s what made it special. It was quieter with less foot traffic and more time to enjoy their adventurous engagement. It was a chilly time of year where the colors were still vibrant throughout the park, but spring had not yet fully arrived. A slight chill hung in the air but once we reached the top, it was quiet and peaceful and no amount of chilly breezes were going to stop us. The sun started shining through the clouds and it was everything we were hoping for.

Dani & Chad both changed their outfits for this area to something a little more laid-back. Dani opted for a yellow dress for some spring vibes, while later switching back to the mini white dress. And Chad switched to a cozy but spring-like sweater. This spot is where we ended the first day of Dani & Chad’s destination engagement session. From here we set off to a local Airbnb to reset and recharge for sunrise the next morning.

Day 2: Ending the Adventure Engagement Photoshoot with Zion’s Epic Overlook

When Dani & Chad first reached out to me, they could not decide between sunset or sunrise at Zion Canyon Overlook Trail. They wanted an evening session, but one thing we knew about sunset inside the scenic side of the park, it’s always busy. Zion Canyon’s scenic overlook has very limited parking. It can be quite difficult to find a spot in the evening. In fact, you can end up driving around for a long time while waiting for someone to leave. This eventually made our decision easy. We decided it was worth it to make the overlook a sunrise session and enjoy more peace of mind.

Luckily that next morning, parking was easy and only once we got started on the trail did we spot more people. It was very cloudy and cold that morning so we knew we wouldn’t get the typical vibrant orange sunrise that Zion has to offer. Instead we were able to enjoy the even lighting of those early hours. The canyon speaks for itself when you take in the views. And Dani & Chad made the whole session incredibly easy. That morning they decided to keep their outfits comfortable and still contrasting to the landscape. Even as tired as we all were, their love for one another spoke volumes. It was the absolute perfect way to end their two day outdoor adventure engagement session.

From cozy moments in the truck to breathtaking views at the overlook, Dani & Chad’s engagement was the perfect blend of adventure and intimacy. Their weekend was a reminder that the best photos don’t have to include super long trails and exhaustion. The experience can still be calm and cozy when everything is planned with care.

If you’re dreaming of an engagement session that feels like an adventure and tells your story in the most meaningful way, let’s plan it together. Reach out today and let’s start creating something unforgettable 🙂

Here’s what Dani & Chad had to say about their experience:

“Brittany is unmatched, and you will be STUNNED. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Brittany a few times now and she amazes me every session. Her go with the flow attitude and comfortable demeanor make photos with her so EASY (even my boyfriend has fun, stg). She’s fun, she’s quirky, she’s everything you want in a third wheel. There aren’t enough words to adequately describe her talent, which is fine because her art truly speaks for itself. Thank you Brittany, for capturing my boyfriend and I so authentically!”
